Having damage-free hair is a dream for all girls.
There was a time when I really wanted to encounter a genie who would grant me a wish to have damage-free hair forever. Well, I did not meet a genie but I did come across several powerful remedies that can reduce hair-damage significantly.
Before knowing the remedies we need to understand the causes of hair damage.
So let's begin with that...

Hair damage occurs when the protective outer layer of our hair is attacked by several internal and external factors and leaving cracks in its exterior.
The protective layer of our hair is called the cuticle. When cuticles are attacked, they crack up, thus causing dullness, frizziness, split-ends and hair falls.
These factors include harsh chemical treatments, excessive heat, improper diet and several other environmental and health factors.
Basic causes of hair-damage
1. Diet
Our health depends on what we eat and so does our precious hairs'.
Deficiency of nutrients like zinc, iron and folic acid contributes to hair damage because these nutrients help in strengthening hair roots and also reduce dryness.
2. Stress
Not having a healthy mind also contributes to hair damage. Stress can be the ultimate cause of hair breakage.
Excessive stress slows down hair growth and also weakens the roots thus resulting in hair breakage.
3. Heat Damage
Heat can damage the hair. Blowdrying and using flat irons which require excessive heat causes hair fall, dryness and hair breakage.
4. Over-Washing
Yes, you heard it right! Over-washing of hair may cause damage especially if you have oily skin. Thus causing hair fall.
5. Over-Processing
Too much of chemical treatments like dying, strangling, relaxers etc can cause hair damage.
The chemicals used during these process are quite harsh and might damage the hair cuticles and cause problems like frizziness, dryness or hair breakage.

The above-mentioned hair remedies and shampoos are truly effective in reducing hair damage. But there are also certain lifestyle changes one needs to adapt to keep the hairs away from damage. Because only taking care of it externally does not really serve the purpose.
Therefore I will talk about some simple lifestyle hacks which will surely protect your hairs from severe damage.
1. Say No To Stress
As mentioned earlier, stress is one of the main reasons for hair damage because excessive stress can actually prevent hair growth, thus resulting in hair breakage and split ends. Therefore take time to relax and say no to stress.
2. Use Silk Pillow Covers
Sleeping on silk pillowcases gives you many benefits and one of them is protecting your hair from frizziness.
Because it has a smooth texture and does not snag and muss your hair like cotton pillowcases. Therefore you are likely to wake up with less frizzy hairs.
3. Proper Diet
Our hair also depends on the kind of food we eat.
Therefore make sure that your regular diet has the proper amount of nutrients like minerals, protein, vitamins and fibres because there are really important when it comes to hair growth.
4. Oiling
I am well aware that our generation likes to stay away from regular oiling, our busy schedule contributes significantly to it.
If you want to keep your hairs damage-free than make sure that you opt for an oil massage at least once a week because it will not only strengthen the hair roots but will also prevent other damages like split ends and dryness.
5) Don't Forget To Use Conditioner
It is very important to know that washing your hairs just by using shampoo can actually damage your hairs. Therefore make it a point to never skip conditioner after shampoo.
Hair conditioner makes your hair smooth and also keeps it away from frizziness.
6) Don't Engage In A War With Your Hair Strands
If you want to keep your hair away from damage then make sure to comb your hairs gently. Because if you comb your hairs very roughly then it not only results in hair fall but also weakens the roots of your hair. Therefore be gentle while combing!
