It's been quite a time since we had the luxury to experience the pleasing aroma of salons. The lockdown might have restricted our foot movements outside the house but it can't obstruct us from giving our hard-working feet a good pampering. Not all of us are backed with a pedicure kit at home, considering which, I've created an In-house Pedicure Kit which will cost you just ₹0.
The In-House Pedicure Kit Would Have
- Lemon
- Honey
- Baking Soda
- Sugar
- Salt
- Face Wash/Any Soap
- Shampoo/Bodywash
- Moisturiser/Any Thick Cream/Any Oil
- Loofah or Simply an Old Toothbrush
Let's Get Started With The Pedicure
Step 1- Cleansing
Remove nail polish, if you're wearing it, from your feet and wash them with your favourite face wash or any regular soap. Now, squeeze a lemon into a bowl (we'll need this later) and start rubbing its peel on your nails to clean off any dirt or grime, you'll notice nails whitening instantly.

Step 2- Scrubbing
This becomes an important step to remove any dead skin from your feet to pave the way for the growth of a fresh one. Any Face Scrub will serve this purpose but in case you don't have one, here is a DIY scrub for you. Mix honey, lemon and sugar to get a home-made scrub. Now that we've got our scrub ready, pick an old toothbrush to make the process easier. Rub the scrub all over your feet and start scrubbing it gently with the help of a toothbrush or loofah. Pumice Stone is good for exfoliating heels but just in case you don't have one, trust the toothbrush.
Step 3- Moisturising
Moisturise your feet with the help of a moisturiser or any thick cream which will keep them moist during the entire process. If you're willing to save your moisturiser, pertaining to this lockdown, you can also replace it with coconut oil.

Step 4- Dipping
Take a tub and fill it with warm water. Remember that it has to stay warm for the next 20 minutes so don't use lukewarm water. The temperature of the water has to be adjusted in a way that you can tolerate it and don't burn your feet. Once you've achieved a favourable temperature, start putting some goodies in it. The Pedicure Goodies will have two tablespoons of baking soda, two tablespoons of salt, two tablespoons of your favourite shampoo/body wash and two tablespoons of lemon juice. Mix them well with your hands and you will soon see a clear foam building up in the tub. Now, dip your feet into it for 20 minutes. After a few minutes, you'll see some dead skin accumulating over your feet and this has to be cleaned gently with a loofah.
Step 5- Post-Pedicure
Take out your feet from the tub and with the help of a cuticle-remover or a plucker, try removing the extra cuticles. The skin of your feet would be very delicate and it will be easier to tame it your way. File your nails to get the desired shape and wash your feet with clean water. Towel-dry them and apply a good moisturiser or any cold cream. Putting a Nail-polish after a pedicure is completely optional but watching your coloured nails will definitely make you feel proud of your efforts.

Bonus: Try wearing socks after it for an hour only to find the softest and cleanest feet ever.
I hope this article made it your heart and if it did, do not forget to share this with your girlfriends. After all, Girls that pedicure together, are happy together.
