If you are reading this article then I'm very sure you love beautiful nails and care about maintaining their health like most of us here.
In this article, we have covered three very important aspects of nails which is all you need to know to nail your #nailfies this year.
The first is nail shapes, choosing the right nail shape can be a herculean task. Before choosing the right shape, you need to have proper knowledge about the basic shapes, their pros and their cons.
Some of the popular nail shapes of 2022 are Square, Squoval, Stiletto, Ballerina, Edge and Lipstick. We have discussed these and more fingernail shapes in-depth below:
1. Square

The Square nail is one of the most common nail shapes that people go for. It looks good in both long as well as short nails. It is low maintenance, all you need to do is a proper trimming to achieve that square shape. However, they tend to chip easily for which you will need to be careful.
2. Squoval

As the name suggests, this shape is a mixture of square and oval nail shapes. It is square at the base and oval at the top part with soft rounded edges. They chip less than square and look amazing!
3. Oval

Again one of the very basic nail shapes. It has a wide base with an inwardly curved corner to give that oval appearance.
Short or long, this shape looks great on all nail lengths. It is considered one of the strongest of all nail shapes.
4. Round

Rounded nails are the most basic nail shapes.
Achieving this shape is not very fussy. Just grow your nails and work on softening the edges.
5. Almond

Almond nails are considered the weakest of all nail shapes. They break very easily. They do make your hands look longer but one needs to be careful with almond nails especially around the eyes because there is a very chance of injuring oneself.
6. Mountain Peak

It has a wide base with a pointy top just like a mountain peak. The nail length preferred here is usually medium.
This can be achieved through natural nails but requires a lot of trimming and softening to create the peak.
7. Stiletto

Stiletto nails are like mountain peak nails but they are longer compared to mountain peak nails.
These kinds of nails are preferred by celebrities like Cardi B, Nicki Minaj and many more. In most cases, extensions are used as it requires extra long nails. These kinds of nails can be pretty dangerous around small kids, but they look stunning.
8. Ballerina

This nail shape is also known as Coffin shaped nails. This nail shape is a blend of Almond nails at the base and Square nails at the top.
This shape is achieved usually with longer nails. It can be high maintenance though.
9. Edge

It has a normal base like every other nails shape but the upper part is trimmed with a 45° angle on both sides to create edges. The nail length preferred is medium to long.
To create this, one needs extension and it is suggested that you go to a professional salon to achieve this shape.
10. Lipstick

As the name suggests, it looks like lipstick. This shape is difficult to achieve through natural nails, therefore, extensions are used to give it a proper shape.
This again needs high maintenance and one has to be careful with these nails as they are long and have sharp edges.
11. Flare

The base is normal but the top part has a flared end that is wider than the bottom part.
The nail is extremely high maintenance and there is a high chance that you might end up injuring yourself. This is not suitable for everyday wear. But if you want to experiment with different nail shapes then surely go for it.
12. Arrowhead

This nail shape is inspired by the sharp tip of an arrow.
It is somewhat like an Edge nail shape but the difference lies in the tip. Arrowhead nail shape's tip is sharper than Edge nail shape's. It is suitable for occasional wear.
Nail Arts and Designs in 2022
The second aspect covered is Nail arts and designs. After you are done choosing the right nail shape, the next step is to find the right colours and designs to paint your nails.
The right kind of nail art and design can instantly lift up your look and make you stand out amongst the crowd.
Here we suggest you some nail arts you should look forward to in 2022. And if you love modern art and want to bring out your artistic side then these nail art designs can help you express yourself which is more like a cherry on top.
1. Face nail art

If you are into modern arts and love to transgress the set boundaries in art form then you can go for it.
Creating this kind of art requires a steady hand which only a professional can do but if you are confident with your painting skills, you can do it too. The art looks amazing with nude and black combinations.
2. Ombre nail art

This is one of the easiest nail art that can be done at home. All you need is the right tools. Take a sponge, put 2-3 shades of the same colour you want to paint your nails with. Start with the darkest shade at the base and keep painting with lighter shades till the tip. Finish it with a top coat and you are done.
The best part is, it won't create much fuss nor does it take up a lot of time.
3. Eyes nail art

The colour combination here is more important than anything else. This kind of art gives an edgy look and unleashes your bold artistic side.
In this nail art, you need to paint an eye on each nail. The eye can be painted anywhere- be it on the top, bottom or middle (whatever satisfies your artistic intellect).
You can also wing it however you like it and rock another great trend.
4. Sand Dunes nail art

The colours used here are dull but it indeed gives one of the liveliest looking results. The combination of rusty red, sandy beige, dusky purple, pastel blue ad many more dull colours are used to create that sandy desert vibe.
For this, use matte nail paints as it gives a dry look which is what we need from the look because deserts give out a dry feel.
5. Cubism nail art

Cubism was the most influential art form in the 20th century.
It utilises geometric shapes like squares, rectangles etc. and creates and art that has not one but multiple points of view. Creating this kind of nail art can be challenging but not impossible (professionals are highly recommended).
You can't buy happiness but you can buy nail art and that's basically the same thing.
Tips For Healthy Nails
Nails form an integral part of the overall look. No one likes to look at chipped, shabby nails. Just like hair and skin, it is extremely necessary to take care of your nails too. Here are 7 tips that will help you to take care of your nails.
- Consult your doctor or dermatologist if you notice major changes in nail shape, such as curled nails.
- Always keep your nails dry as much as possible. Wetting your nails too much can make them brittle and they might discolour and chip often.
- Use coconut oil to massage your nails. Coconut oil is an excellent moisturizer, it will help you keep your nails strong.
- Applying a nail hardener might help strengthen nails. It will act as a protective layer on your nail.
- Nutritional deficiency can cause brittle nails. Taking a proper diet is a must as it can solve many issues. Take biotin supplements to strengthen your nails but before that consult your doctor (always).
- Opt for glass or crystal nail files instead of outdated emery boards which create microscopic tears that cause peeling and splits.
- Try limiting the use of nail polish remover and always go for acetone-free removers. Opt for removers containing hydrating oils and ingredients.
The only time a woman is helpless is when her nails are drying.
