A question that I have come across quite a lot on night skin routine is "Why is it necessary?".
At night our skin gets ready for the rejuvenating process and absorbs the most. There's a reason honey, why all of us call it 'beauty sleep'. A night time skin routine can help in repairing the skin from within and giving you the right amount of glow.
I remember looking this up long back and realizing that I don't have a lot of products for the night skincare regime and so I used natural ingredients that are always available inside our houses. I am going to mention the actual drugstore-bought requirements AND their natural substitutes.
Night skin routine is precisely a 4-step regime.
A face wash or a cleanser that suits your skin type is the first step towards great skin. You can also exfoliate your skin with some light skin-friendly scrub to remove the dead cells.
Natural- Use a normal facewash and follow it up with a coffee and coconut/almond oil scrub to gently remove the dead cells off your skin.
It is advisable to tone the skin after the cleansing process. It hydrates the skin and closes pores on the skin. Toners are water-like in their consistency and are available in a number of drug stores.
Natural- Mixing apple cider vinegar with water in the ratio 1:2 does the same work as a toner. Another way is to mix 2 tablespoons of cucumber juice with a dash lemon juice and apply to the skin with the help of a cotton swab.
After cleansing the next step is applying a serum. Face serums are widely available in drugstores and work great on the skin.
Natural- If you don't have a serum, you can mix small amounts of aloe vera gel and vitamin E capsules. This can work as a perfect replacement for the store-bought serums. If you have dry skin, you can add a few drops of a face oil of your preference.
The last step is moisturizing the skin. You can use your favourite moisturizers that suit your skin type. I'm sure all of us have our favourite moisturizers at home. Any cream can be used for this step.
