  • Mash two boiled potatoes, add some chopped veggies like capsicum, carrots, and any other vegetable of choice.
  • Instead of potatoes you can also you some paneer if you prefer that or for an extra treat use both.
  • Also, add one finely chopped green chilli.
  • Add some salt, red chilli powder, garam masala, black pepper, and other spices of your choice.
  • Mix all the ingredients and form a thick batter.
  • Now, crush some plain cornflakes OR bread crumbs OR chips to make a crispy base and then pour them in another bowl.
  • Take another bowl, put two tbsp of cornflour or maida, and add some water. Mix it well, but make sure the slurry is a little thick.
  • After all, this is ready and you have all this in front of your eyes;
  • Take a pan and put some oil into it. You can either shallow fry or deep fry the onion rings, so according to that adjust the amount of the oil.
  • Take the onion rings, and take the potato/paneer mixture generously, and put it in the ring, making a thick onion ring.
  • Now, coat the onion ring, first in the crushed cornflakes or whatever ingredient you have used, then put in the slurry and then again coat it in the crushed ingredient.
Onion rings being deep fried
  • Immediately put in the oil for deep frying or shallow frying.
  • Repeat the steps in the same order for every onion ring and once they are in the pan make sure you turn them so that they are fried from both sides.
  • The onion rings should look brown and crispy and then they are ready to be taken out.
  • Serve hot!
  • Don’t forget to enjoy the crispiness of this yummy dish in a ring.
